平顶山市位于河南省中部,全市现辖2市4县4区,92个乡镇,其中革命老区县(市、区)6个、乡(镇)44个,老区农村人口293.3万人,占全市农村人口的77%。改革开放以后特别是近年来,平顶山市解放思想,开拓奋进,大力推进资源型城市可持续发展示范区建设,经济社会发展取得显著成就,城镇化率达40.2%,城乡居民收入实现两位数增长,迈出了提前全面小康、建设美丽鹰城的新步伐。图为平顶山市区一角。
