Occupational health services in the United Kingdom were developed on the basis of spontaneous laws and regulations laid down by some factory owners (employers) and on the health philanthropy advocated by some enlightened factory owners and industrialists. By the beginning of the 20th century, they began to emphasize preventive work and gradually overcrowded services that had previously been the main purpose of treatment to those mainly aimed at improving the working environment and protecting the health of workers. Since 1945, the United Kingdom has become a welfare state, which has contributed to the development of occupational health services nationwide in the United Kingdom. Some parties and organizations are also actively calling for expanding the scope of occupational health services in Britain.
