2003年2月8日以来,广东省和我国部分地区出现非典型肺炎病例,中国传媒在这次突发性事件中所面临的挑战是空前的:一是事件来势凶猛、影响广泛、情况复杂、变数很大;二是病情关乎每一位公民的安危,对社会稳定产生影晌;三是不法商贩趁机造谣乱市,促使局势更加复杂;四是短信、网络及境外舆论的报道真假难辨。尽管如此,广东传媒和中国其它传媒一起,遵照党和政府的指示精神以高度的政治责任感和大局意识,积极开展宣传,对维护社会稳定和维护中国良好形象起了积极作用,中国媒体亦在此次事件中积累了应对公共突发事件报道的经验。
