hbrp (HumanBSP-RelatedProtein) is a new gene that is related to the BSP (bovineseminalplasma) protein in our laboratory recently cloned in testicular tissue. In order to integrate the new gene information with the existing human genome transcripts, we mapped the chromosomal location of this gene by fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH). As a result, hbrp gene was successfully mapped to human 19 Chromosome long arm zone 1 3 belt. The hbrp gene was discovered and cloned in the process of studying the function of BSP protein. The homology analysis revealed that the sequence of hbrp is the most similar to the BSP protein family.
