Objective: To observe the changes of the expression of intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1, CD54) and β2 integrin (CD18) on lymphocytes in children with asthma. Participants: 40 children with asthma, including 22 cases of acute attack group, 18 cases of remission group, 16 cases of healthy children as control group. Methods: The positive rates of CD54 and CD18 in peripheral blood lymphocytes were detected by flow cytometry. Results: The positive rates of CD54 and CD18 of lymphocytes in attack and remission groups were significantly higher than those in control group. In the seizure group, the positive rates of CD54 and CD18 of lymphocytes in moderate and severe children were significantly higher than those in mild children, with no significant difference between moderate and severe cases. Conclusion: The expression of CD54 and CD18 on lymphocytes in asthmatic children is increased, which is beneficial to the adhesion between lymphocytes and vascular endothelial cells, and promotes the infiltration of lymphocytes into the bronchial mucosa.
