Chinese-American writer Wu Huiming is good at portraying the ethnic life in the underclass. The two main themes of his work are complicated family and sister relationships in a variety of cultural conflicts. Through the intertextual interpretation of her fame as “Bone” and her early award winning work, “A Red Sweater,” we can find out the differences and correlations between different subjectivity in Chinese literary works of the same genre. Psychologically and culturally, grasp the formation, change and symbolic significance of the subjectivity of the characters of stagnation, ascent and ascendency in Chinese American literature.
