GE Superabrasives manufactures a composite blade with a working layer of cubic boron nitride (bonded with a ceramic adhesive) and a cemented carbide matrix. The blade is a BZN8000 and the blade has a standard geometry that can be clamped to an arbor for mounting standard carbide inserts. The combination of cubic nitride and ceramic allows the blade to have high hardness and thermal shock resistance as well as good chemical stability.
