邓小平在一次会见外宾时说,多年来,物价问题是国家的沉重负担。旧的价格制度不符合价值规律,国家每年都要拿出财政收入的很大一部分用于物价补贴,给经济建设增加了很大的包袱。要轻装前进,物价问题非解决不可。不走这一步,中国就不可能在下个世纪中期达到中等发达国家的水平。我们很清楚,价格改革每前进一步都有不小的风险,会遇到困难。要让全党和全国人民懂得,这是很艰苦的工作。中国现在是个巨大的试验室,我们面临的是新事物、新问题,经验靠我们自己创造。这要求我们兢兢业业地工作,决策时既要大胆又要细心,要经常总结经验。我还告诉同志们:胆子要大一点,不要怕风险。如果前怕狼后怕虎,那就走不成路。
During a meeting with foreign guests, Deng Xiaoping said that the price issue has been a heavy burden on the country over the years. The old price system is not in conformity with the law of value. Every year, the state should allocate a large part of its revenue for price subsidies, which adds a great burden to economic construction. To lightly forward, price problems can not be resolved. Without this step, it will not be possible for China to reach the level of a medium-sized developed country by the middle of the next century. We are well aware that every step of the price reform has a small risk and will encounter difficulties. It is a very hard task for the entire party and people across the country to understand it. China is now a huge laboratory. What we are facing is new things and new problems, and our experience is created by ourselves. This requires that we work diligently and conscientiously, we must be bold and careful when making decisions, and we must always summarize our experience. I also told my comrades: be bold and do not be afraid of risk. If you are afraid of the tiger before the scared tiger, then go no way.
