去年春天,京西矿区齐家庄、傅家台一带的农村里正在积极准备春种的时候,农民们欢迎中国戏曲学校实验京剧团到他们这里来劳动和演出。看见剧团里的这些青年人生龙活虎一般,白天和他们一起忙地里的庄稼活,干得满起劲;晚上就为他们演戏,更是卖力气,演得好,唱得好,农民们总是说:“过去我们这里从来也没有戏看,如今毛主席培养了这样好的青年演员,送戏上门,我们才有了戏看。”当时,他们常把传说中古代的女英雄穆桂英做为妇女干活的榜样,因此,最爱看穆桂英的戏来鼓舞自己,舞台上的穆桂英也在为生产服务着。扮演穆桂英的那个女青年演员,给了农民们深刻的印象,谁都喜爱她,在一起劳动的时候,大家都不叫她的名字,就叫她“穆桂英”,
