This article describes an improvement in the uranium determination of uranium by the ferrous ion-phosphoric acid reduction method of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission (USAEC) and the expansion of its application. This method was originally used to determine uranium in high-content or relatively pure samples and is now known to have high Accuracy and precision of the determination of uranium content of 0.004-7% of the uranium ore method. This method is simple and fast, without the need to pre-isolate the elements that often interfere with other methods of determination. For samples with high levels of interfering elements, the pre-isolation step with trioctylphosphine oxide extraction is described. This separation step is not necessary for most low-grade ores.
