From the perspective of neoclassical economics, a country’s long-term economic growth can be summed up in two aspects: one is the increase in factor input; the other is factor productivity, that is, labor productivity or total factor productivity. Economic growth based solely on factor expansion will not be sustainable in the long term at the expense of consuming elements and resources extensively. Only by improving TFP will the sustainability of economic growth be guaranteed. The paper draws lessons from [1, 2, 3] to decompose the changes of industrial structure from factor productivity (labor productivity and total factor productivity), and to analyze the role of industrial structure change in promoting economic growth. The thesis attempts to make an analysis of the contribution of changes in industrial structure in Gansu to labor productivity and provide relevant suggestions for the industrial structure change in our province.
