【Objective】 To observe the changes of flash visual evoked potentials in neonates with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE). 【Methods】 44 patients with HIE of different degrees and 20 normal neonates were examined by flash vision evoked potential (F VEP) using NICOLET VIKING Ⅵ P evoked potentiometer. 【Results】 Compared with the control group, the abnormality of the main wave (P1) in the HIE group was either deleted or partially absent, and the latency of the P1 wave was significantly prolonged (P <0.01). And the degree of abnormalities of F VEP was obviously related to the condition of HIE. 【Conclusion】 F VEP can reflect the changes of functional status of central nervous system in HIE more sensitively. It has certain value in the monitoring and prognosis of neonatal HIE.
