There are fundamental differences between Nehru and Gandhi in the design of future society. During the period of independence struggle, they not only expressed and propagated their own ideas through words and writings, but also exchanged their opinions through communications and talks. In the late 1920s, Nehru communicated with Gandhi and frankly stated the disagreements between them. In the early 1930s, Nehru and Gandhi used the opportunity to take a morning walk to exchange their views on past, present and especially future issues. In the mid-40s, Nehru communicated with Gandhi first and then talked directly to discuss their own ideas for the future of Indian society and intended to refer the issue to the Congress Party Working Committee for a highly ethnically public debate. The differences between Nehru and Gandhi are manifested on two levels.
