INTRODUCTION The performance of general-purpose computer-controlled operations primarily depends on the ability to derive accurate data from the interaction of the operator with its surroundings and the computational elements that translate this data into useful control information. Tactile is a potential source of such data, but existing tactile technologies are far from satisfying people’s needs
