麦克奥迪的名声从1999年“MOTIC技术中心”的建立开始鹊起——在当时厦门近300家高新技术企业中,麦克奥迪是唯一一家在厦门本地设立研发中心的企业；而出自“MOTIC技术中心”的全球首台内置式数码显微镜,则令世界侧目——与世界传统显微镜生产水平相差上百年的”小矮子”,在新技术的推波助澜下,竟一下赶超了德国蔡司、日本尼康等业界的“巨人”企业；再往后,全球首创数码互动实验室、全球首个全自动DNA早期宫颈癌诊断系统纷纷从MOTIC技术中心降世,更让麦克奥迪的人气和公司业绩一路飙升。
