Ms. Morris first described to journalists the huge, magnificent outlook for e-commerce. The trade volume among enterprises in e-commerce will be 5 billion U.S. dollars in 1997 and 327 billion U.S. dollars in 2002. The total volume of electronic trade in the Asia-Pacific region has grown from 73 million U.S. dollars in 1996 to 12.5 billion U.S. dollars in 2001. With the Internet, businesses can achieve broader reach, distributors reduce their operating costs, and small businesses have more opportunities for growth.
