麦田套种莲花菜 (学名甘兰) 是充分利用地力、解决粮菜争地矛盾的一种优良套种方式。由于二者共生期短 (35～40天),高矮相错,互不影响,加之经济效益显著 (据对1985年马桥三队12户农民调查,每亩地可产小麦350公斤,莲花菜5000～6000公斤,平均每亩产值448～507元。较单种莲花菜每亩多收275元)。为此,金积乡近年面积迅速扩大,套种面积占莲花菜种植面积的60～70％。现将主要栽培技术介绍如下:
