1984年黑龙江省水土保持研究所牡丹江实验站从甘肃省引种的“西北黄花菜”,经过四年栽培试验证明,是一种适于东北地区生长的优良的保土植物,无论是产量价值还是水土保持作用,皆胜过当地品种。这种黄花菜繁殖容易,栽培简单,可在田埂地边广为栽植,实为群众致富的一种好作物。黄花菜又名金针菜,为多年生百合科萱草属丛生型草本植物。西北黄花菜是其中之佼佼者。这种黄花菜叶长而宽,花蕾大。平均叶长99.6厘米,最长104厘米。平均叶幅宽1.5厘米。最宽3.5厘米。花蕾微弯曲,呈弓形,平均长15.4厘米,最长可达16.3厘米,平均粗1.39厘米,单蕾平均鲜重5.86克,干重0.63克。花蕾开放时,花被中下部相连,上端扩张6裂,星漏斗状,黄色,美丽多彩,故有些城市公园将它作
