早在一百年前,他在演讲中表达了中国参加国际奥林匹克运动的愿望,成为将奥运理念引入中国的第一人。早在1908年8月的英国伦敦第四届奥运会,他就现场观看了大会盛况,成为到现场观摩奥运会的第一个中国人。他还发起成立了中国第一个社会体育组织——全国学校区分队第一次体育同盟会。他曾任中华全国体育协进会、华北体育联合会、中华业余运动联合会会长;他先后发起全国运动会、远东运动会、华北运动会,历任赛会会长、总领队、总裁判。……他以毕生的精力为体育事业而奋斗,他以终生的实践传播奥林匹克精神,他推动了近代中国体育的发展,成为名副其实的中国竞技体育先驱。
As early as one hundred years ago, in his speech, he expressed China’s desire to participate in the international Olympic movement and became the first person to introduce the Olympic concept to China. As early as August 1908, the fourth Olympic Games in London, England, he watched the grand occasion of the conference and became the first Chinese to watch the Olympic Games live. He also initiated the establishment of China’s first social sports organization - the first division of the national school sports league. He used to be the All-China Sports Association, the North China Sports Federation, and the president of the Chinese Amateur Sports Federation. He has successively started the National Games, the Far East Games, the North China Games, and successively served as the president of the tournament, general manager and chief referee. He struggled with his lifelong energies for sports. He disseminated the Olympic spirit with his life-long practice. He promoted the development of modern Chinese sports and became a genuine pioneer of Chinese competitive sports.
