The surface reaction of uranium metal with carbon monoxide at 200 ℃ was studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The adsorption of carbon monoxide on the surface oxide layer led to the shift of U4f peak to low binding energy, the decrease of oxygen content in oxide and the decrease of O / U ratio with the increase of carbon monoxide adsorption.
