平果县希望小学是全国第一批、广西第一所希望小学。这所希望小学在平果县凤梧乡仕仁村,时任中顾委副主任的薄一波为学校题写了校名。1992年5月16日,两位解放军同志来到中国青少年发展基金会办公室,说是受一位老人之托,来为希望工程捐款3000元。基金会的同志说收受捐款要登记,请留个名。其中一位军人说:“那就写上一个老共产党员吧。”后经多方了解才清楚,这两位军人是邓小平同志身边的工作人员,而那位“老共产党员”就是邓小平同志。同年10月,邓小平同志又一次以“一个老共产党员”的名义向希望工程捐款2000元。
Pingguo Hope Primary School is the first batch of Guangxi’s first hope primary school. This hope primary school in Pingguo Fengwu Township Shiren village, when the Central Advisory Commission deputy director Bo Yibo for the school inscribed the school name. On May 16, 1992, two PLA comrades came to the office of China Youth Development Foundation and said they were donated 3,000 yuan for Hope Project by an old man. The comrades of the foundation said that to accept donations to register, please leave a name. One of the soldiers said: “Write an old Communist Party member.” After much understanding, it is clear that these two soldiers are comrades working by Comrade Deng Xiaoping and that the “old communist” is Comrade Deng Xiaoping. In October of the same year, Comrade Deng Xiaoping once again donated 2,000 yuan to Hope Project on behalf of “an old Communist Party member.”
