《哈利·波特》1—6集的出版之所以在全世界刮起了一股旋风,不仅在于它给老派的魔法故事披上了当代的外衣,更重要的是它在精神上是属于当代的。它在对生与死、善与恶等文学母题的开掘上,打破了确定性的认知传统和形而上的二元对立认识结构,阻断了人们透过文本对绝对真理的追求。用联系的、非确定性的观点来进行重新认知,从而体现出生中有死、死中有生,生与死互渗并存;恶中有善、善中有恶,善恶互依,以及以人的存在方式来解释人性、以人的行动来判断人性、道德以及人生价值的标准的新理念。在人物形象创造上,对儿童文学只能塑造单纯易懂的人物性格的传统艺术理念加以彻底的解构,从而完成了童话由现代向后现代的转变。
