This paper presents a method based on stochastic dynamic programming to analyze the operation of a three-reservoir Y-shaped hydropower system. The technology by the historical inflow of information into the downstream reservoir. In each iterative calculation, the optimal strategy for the downstream hydroelectric power unit is used to provide the weight or target for upstream reservoir operation. The new inflow of downstream reservoirs can be obtained by running historical stream runoff data through an upstream reservoir optimal strategy. These flows, in turn, can be used to study a new operational strategy for downstream reservoirs and new targets for upstream reservoirs. The method passes three water on the Lauie River in Manitoba, Canada
