文学是生活的百科全书,是万花筒,是多棱镜。生活有多广阔,文学也有多广阔;心灵有多丰富,文学也有多丰富。文学面对的是整个社会生活,它的参照系是大千世界。 当今的中国正以急速的节奏,强大的力度在许多领域发生着巨变。人们的生活状况、行为准则、道德信仰、相互间的关系等等,都出现了前所未有的变化。作为社会生活的一面镜子的文学,理应并且已经对这种极富戏剧性的社会现实作出一定积极的回应,但是80年代中后期的文学在前进中亦出现了某些“杂音”:面对商潮汹涌、物欲扩展的社会现象,文坛上有的人迷茫困惑、麻木不仁;有的甚至只对“孔方兄”感兴趣,对“文稿竞价”趋之若鹜,漫天要价,恨不得一捶下去,立刻成为百万富翁;还有的则把“玩文学”作为时髦口号,颇有点叶公好龙的味道。这种文学发展中的“变奏”,尽管不足以构成主旋律,但不能等闲视之。 鲁迅先生说过,文学是国民精神点燃的灯火,同时又引导国民前进。因此作家首先要自尊自重,净化情感,修炼道德,洞察世态人情,对国家和民族的发展历程强烈的关注,深刻的思索,脚踏实地地多做一些有益的工作。他们应该既有“不畏浮云遮望眼”的睿智,又有“任尔东西南北风”的坚韧,决不是无根的浮萍,飞扬的花絮。只有这样,作家才能在文学作品中充溢更多的道德激
