The author introduced the basic concepts and characteristics of microsatellite and population genetics, described the research on the genetic structure and genetic diversity of microsatellite in population genetics, the application of gene flow analysis and the division of evolutionary unit (ESU) This paper discusses the application prospect of introduction of population genetics by microsatellite in the genetic origin, origin and origin of authentic medicinal plants, and provides a new theory and method for the study of authentic medicinal plants.
