湖北境内河流港口纵横交错,大小湖泊星罗棋布,出门见水,举足涉河,素有“千湖之省”的美称。为了克服自然阻隔,先民们自古便有架桥的优良传统,从目前掌握的资料来看,湖北的桥梁发展史至少可以追溯至约3000年以前西周昭王时期,周人曾在汉江上架设过一座浮桥,比我国历史上记载最早的周文王为迎亲架设的渭水浮桥仅晚百余年。
Rivers and lakes in Hubei criss-cross the territory, the size of the lake dotted, go out to see the water, Jude involved in the river, known as “the province of thousands of lakes” reputation. From the current information we can see, the history of the development of bridges in Hubei can be traced back to at least about 3,000 years ago. During the period of the Western Zhou Dynasty, the Zhou people had set up the Han River A pontoon, compared with the earliest recorded in the history of the Chinese King Zhou Wen Wei bridge set up only hundred years later.
