This article discusses a three-phase low-frequency sine-wave reference generator with variable frequency and amplitude. The frequency and the amplitude are adjusted independently of one another by means of two mutually independent DC voltages. This reference generator is well suited for closed-loop control, such as fixed-frequency power supplies, fixed-amplitude power supplies, and a limited ratio of induction motor control between amplitude and frequency. Changing the polarity of the control frequency changes the phase sequence. The reference generator is very satisfactory for controlling three-phase “subharmonic” PWM inverter. The reference generator is also suitable for the control of the cyclotron.
