Objective To understand the awareness of AIDS related knowledge, HIV, syphilis, HCV infection, behavioral characteristics and their changing trend in Jiuquan bus drivers in Jiuquan city and provide a scientific basis for formulating and improving intervention strategies. Methods Anonymous questionnaire and anti-HIV, syphilis ELISA and anti-HCV tests were performed on 400 samples every year according to the requirements of “National AIDS Sentinel Monitoring Implementation Plan”. The statistical results were analyzed by SPSS19.0 software. Results A total of 1 600 male coach drivers were investigated for four consecutive years from 2009 to 2012. No positive HIV antibody was detected. Two were positive for syphilis, with an infection rate of 0.12%. There was no significant difference in syphilis infection rates between years (P> 0.05). The positive rate of HCV antibody was 10% (infection rate was 0.62%). There was no significant difference in the positive rate of HCV antibody between the two groups (P> 0.05) (P <0.01). The proportion of commercial sexual behaviors in the most recent year was 24.68%, with significant difference in each year (P = 0.00). In the most recent year, the proportion of commercial sexual behaviors 57.22% insisted on the use of condoms, the difference between each year was statistically significant (P = 0.00). Conclusion HIV antibody positive was not detected, awareness of HIV / AIDS and sexual behavior insisted on the use of condoms formed a departure from the need to continue to increase education and behavior intervention efforts to raise awareness of AIDS and condom use rate, so as to curb the AIDS epidemic purpose.
