Objective: To compare the difference of negative life events, anxiety and depression among patients with functional dyspepsia (FD) and healthy subjects, and to reveal the relationship between negative life events and anxiety and depression in FD patients and its role in the pathogenesis of FD. Methods: Life events scale (LES), anxiety self-rating scale (SAS) and depression self-rating scale (SDS) were used to score 130 patients with FD and 110 healthy controls. Results: The scores of negative life events in FD patients were significantly higher than those in healthy controls (2 8.65 ± 2.5 vs 2.3 vs 1.58 ± 8.77, P <0.05), and the scores of anxiety and depression were also significantly higher In the healthy control group (52.6 ± 13.32 ± 9vs40.85 ± 8.55; 51.34 ± 14.57 ± 0.67 ± 7.74, P <0.01). FD patients with negative life events score and anxiety, depression score was positively correlated (r = 0.56,0. 52, P <0. Conclusion: Negative life events may affect the mental dysfunction of the individual and thus affect the occurrence of functional dyspepsia.
