李郁荣博士是中国现代早期电机工程学家，２０年代在美国求学期间便结识布什和维纳等著名科学家并与他们共同开展研究。３０年代初他学成归国，执教于清华大学电机工程系，积极从事教育和科研工作，促成了维纳访问清华大学并继续与之进行合作研究，这在现代中外科技交流史上有着重要意义。抗战时期，他的科研工作被迫中断。１９４６年初应邀重返麻省理工学院访问，开始致力于探讨通讯中的统计理论，在此后的二十多年时间里取得了一系列成果。他与维纳之间有着深厚的友谊，而两人长达数十年的合作对彼此的科学生涯都产生了积极的影响。
Dr. Li Yu Rong, a modern Chinese early modern electrical engineering scientist, met famous scientists such as Bush and Wiener during their study in the United States in the 1920s and conducted research with them. In the early 1930s, he returned to China and taught in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Tsinghua University. He actively engaged in education and scientific research, contributed to Wiener’s visit to Tsinghua University and continued cooperation with them. This is of great significance in the history of modern science and technology exchanges between China and foreign countries. During the war of resistance against Japan, his scientific research was forced to interrupt. In early 1946, he was invited to return to MIT for a visit and started to devote himself to exploring the statistical theory in communications. After more than 20 years, he achieved a series of achievements. He has a profound friendship with Wiener, and the two decades of cooperation have had a positive impact on each other’s scientific career.
