The combined toxicity of L-4-thiazolidine carboxylic acid(T)andlidocaine was observed.LD_(50) values and their 95% fiducial limits of T andlidocaine were 144.5±8.8 and 36.3±3.4 mg/kg respectively when given intrave-nously alone. When 1/4,1/2 or 3/4 LD_(50) of T had been given intravenously 10 minbefore lidocaine was given intravenously, the combined LD_(50) values and 95%fiducial limits of T and lidocaine were respectively 45.5±3.9,47.8±4.9 and30.3±3.4 mg/kg.The combined toxicity of T and lidocaine was calculated by themethods of isobologram,Q_(50) and q”values. The results showed that when the dosewas lower than its 1/2 LD_(50),T could antagonize the toxicity of lidocaine, butwhen larger than its 1/2 LD_(50).it could synergize the toxicity of lidocaine.Theavailable field of Q_(50) and q”values were discussed in this paper. The resultsindicated that q”values were superior to Q_(50) values when they were used tocalculate the combined toxicity of the two drugs.
The combined toxicity of L-4-thiazolidine carboxylic acid (T) and lidocaine was observed. LD 50 values and their 95% fiducial limits of T and lidocaine were 144.5 ± 8.8 and 36.3 ± 3.4 mg / kg respectively when given an intrave-nously alone .When 1 / 4,1 / 2 or 3/4 LD_ (50) of T had been given intravenously 10 minbefore lidocaine was given intravenously, the combined LD_ (50) values and 95% fiducial limits of T and lidocaine were individually 45.5 ± 3.9, 47.8 ± 4.9 and 30.3 ± 3.4 mg / kg. The combined toxicity of T and lidocaine was calculated by themethods of isobologram, Q_ (50) and q “values. The results showed that when the dose was lower than its 1/2 LD_ (50), T could antagonize the toxicity of lidocaine, butwhen larger than its 1/2 LD_ (50) .it could synergize the toxicity of lidocaine. The available field of Q_ (50) and q ”values were discussed in this paper. The resultsindicated that q "values were superior to Q_ (50) values when they were used tocalculate the combined toxicity of the two drugs.
