甜叶菊原产巴拉圭,是一种菊科多年生草本植物。含有一种极甜的糖甙,甜度为蔗糖的300倍以上,是目前最甜的糖料作物之一。其用途:①是各种食品的甜味剂,用于各种糖果、糕点、饮料、罐头、茶叶、香烟以及各种淹渍物等;②用于医药,可治疗糖尿病、肾脏型高血压、心脏病、肥胖症等疾病。我校于1978年引种栽培,试验证明在北方能正常生长发育,有广泛的适应性,耐湿性强。因根浅不耐旱,宜在有水地方种植。
