一2011年4月,英国作家戴维·洛奇(David Lodge,1935—)推出了以《时间机器》作者威尔斯(1866—1946)为核心人物的小说新作《风流才子的双面人生》(A Man of parts),这是继《作者,作者》之后,洛奇的又一部跨传记和小说双重文类的传记小说。小说以威尔斯的文学成就和与多个女性的风流韵事为主线,再现了威尔斯风流传奇的一生。小说依然沿用《作者,作者》中的倒叙手法,从威尔斯去世前两年(1944年春天)写起,交代了书中的主要人物,给读者留下诸多悬念后,跳转到威尔斯的童年,然后依照时间顺序,讲述了出身卑微的威尔斯迅速成为著名作家的历程,投身于英国费边杜运动的故事,与亨利·詹姆斯、萧伯纳等
In April 2011, David Lodge (1935-), a British writer, introduced the novel “Double-faced Life with Merry Talents”, a novel based on author Wells of Time Machine (1866-1946) (A Man of parts), which is a biographies of Rocky’s bi-biographical biographies and novel biracial biographies, following The Author and the Authors. The novel reproduces the lifetime of Welsh romantic legend based on Wells’ literary achievements and the affair with many females. The novel still follow the “author, author” in the flashbacks, from the two years before the death of Wells (the spring of 1944) written account of the main characters in the book, to leave a lot of suspense readers, jump to Will Sri Lanka’s childhood, and then in chronological order, tells the humble Wells quickly became a famous writer’s journey, devoted himself to the story of the British Fabian Du movement, and Henry James, George Bernard Shaw
