Ludwig I was King of Bavaria between 1825 and 1848, and in 1863 he obtained seven bas-relief artwork from the Nemrude Site. The recent restoration of these relief works has led to the discovery of the original remains painted on it, and the article discusses the possibilities and problems associated with the reproduction of these original painted faces.
