在台湾,二手书店对许多人来说是个找宝藏的好去处,可惜的是,二手书店的存在似乎以西部为主,位居“后山”的东部却很少。花莲的“时光”与“旧书铺子”算是目前较为人知的二手书店,旅游热点台东却一直都没有类似的书店空间存在,直到2011年的夏天,“晃晃二手书店”才出现在台东市区。2007年开始在台东经营背包客住宿的素素与Hope,因来客增多,无法在旺季接待朋友们住宿,于是买下市区巷弄中的二层楼老建筑。他们先将二楼规划为背包客住宿区域,一楼则暂时闲置。经过些许日子沉淀发想,念儿童文学出身的素素,决定将一楼设计成书的分享空间,除了自己的藏书分享外,也鼓励旅人把自己看完的书带到晃晃二手书店,于是“以书换宿”成为晃晃二手书店&背包客住宿的特色。带着自己的书到素素家,或是提供捐书
