传世文献关于西周史事之记载,以《尚书》之《周书》部分为主,且主要记载西周早期史事,西周中晚期部分几乎没有涉及。此外《左传》《国语》中零星地记载了西周部分史事,亦包含中晚期相关史事,但均比较粗疏。以西周晚期厉王时期史事为例,《国语·周语上》只记载“邵公谏厉王弥谤”及“芮良夫论厉王说荣夷公好专利”二事,《史记·周本纪》亦袭《国语》之说并无突破,足见厉王时期文献记载是非常少的。~①时至今日,我们所拥有关于厉王史事的传世文献材料也没有超过太史公司马迁那个时代。有鉴于此,李学勤先生认为,传世文献对于周厉王时期的记载是非
