在近期刚刚结束的第四届中国国际企业网络论坛峰会上,德国Infineon（亿恒）公司首席科学家Porat博士向与会国内外技术人员及记者作了“扩展距离,将以太网应用在‘最后一英里’”的主题发言,向广大的中国听众展示了其公司所拥有的一项最新技术——VDSL技术。运用这项技术,可以把现有的铜电话线路改造成为信息高速公路。经过改造后,信息传送速率预计会比拨号上网快20至100倍,目前,VDSL技术的协议已经写进IEEE（IEEE802.3ah）、ITU-T、ETSI、ANSI和FSAN（fs-VDSL）。
At the Fourth China International Business Forum last just concluded, Dr. Porat, chief scientist of Germany’s Infineon Corporation, "extended the distance to the participating domestic and foreign technicians and journalists by applying Ethernet in the last mile ’’ S theme, to show the majority of Chinese audience their company owned by the latest technology --VDSL technology. Using this technology, the existing copper telephone line can be transformed into an information superhighway. The information transfer rate is expected to be 20 to 100 times faster than dial-up access. At present, the VDSL technology agreement has been written into IEEE (IEEE802.3ah), ITU-T, ETSI, ANSI and FSAN (fs-VDSL).
