众所周知,翻译是运用一种语言把另一种语言的思想准确而完整地表达出来。用我国近代翻译家严复的话说,就是“信、达、雅”。用现代语言解释“信、达、雅”,那就是准确、忠实、通顺地表达原文的思想。因此,不论是文学翻译,社会科学、自然科学文章的翻译,还是英文专著的翻译,都应做到准确、忠实和通顺地把原文的意思表达出来。当然,文学翻译,社会科学、自然科学文章以及英文专著的翻译,均有其不同的翻译准则和不同的表现手法。一般的说,文学翻译要
