John BradyKiesling, political adviser to the U.S. embassy in Athens, resigned in March. Kisling is a veteran career diplomat and has worked for the U.S. embassies in Israel, Morocco and Armenia. This letter of resignation is published in the April issue of the New York Book Review. Dear Secretary of State, I submit to you my resignation, resignation from my office in the U.S. offices abroad and my role as political adviser to the U.S. embassy in Athens, effective March 7. I resigned with a heavy heart. The education I received made me feel obliged to pay my own country. As a diplomat, serving the country is one
