There are various definitions of the concept of “border cooperation” in academic works and economic practice, which means that the meaning of border cooperation can have various explanations. What we follow in our own study is the definition under the 1980 Madrid Convention. By this definition, border cooperation is understood as “any strengthening or encouraging the development of good-neighborly relations between the administrative divisions or regimes of the two jurisdictions”.
