Recently, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development jointly issued a document announcing that China will speed up the development of green buildings in China in an all-round way through such means as government subsidies so that by 2020, green buildings will account for more than 30% of the total newly-built buildings. The “Opinion on Accelerating the Implementation of Green Building Development in China” is the first time for China to put forward the goal of green building development in the form of an official document. The two departments also made it clear that they will strive to ensure that the government-funded non-profit buildings and municipalities directly under the Central Government, cities specifically designated in the state plan and provincial capital cities in 2014
