This article describes a new device for the remote transmission of X-ray images using off-the-shelf telephone transmission lines. The television picture of the terminal is satisfactory, and the diagnostic accuracy of the reading test occupies 80% of the test cases. The cost of the device is not high, and it facilitates the diagnostic reading of hospital affiliates away from the center. Although television terminal devices have been greatly improved, the transmission of television image signals from one place to another is costly and hinders the widespread application of long-distance transmission. Transmission of television image signals over telephone lines is a solution to this problem and the development of solid-state circuit elements for processing these signals enables the economical acquisition of high-quality images in clinical radiology practices.
