This article discusses four aspects of self-wear. The first part will be self-grinding compared with conventional crushing and grinding systems, discusses the self-grinding power efficiency of the opinion. It also shows how high power efficiency can be achieved from self-grinding systems. The second part examines a simple test method for ores to determine the type of self-mill that can process ores on an industrial scale. It also outlines the use of simple, small equipment for testing with large equipment or refractory ores. The third section explores some of the priorities that must be considered when designing a self-abrasive system. The fourth part deals with refractory ore and how to treat quasi-ground ore with a self-grinding system.
