英语中表达因果关系的手段很多。最常见的是用连接词(如because,since,now that,so that等)和介词(如because of,due to,owing to,on accou-nt of,from等)。因果关系也可以用动词来表示,本文主要介绍这方面的应用。 1.cause,bring about,give rise to 这些动词都表示“引起”,主语表示原因,宾语表示结果。例如: The expansion causes some of the steam tocondense.膨胀引起部分蒸汽冷凝。 The increase in temperature has broughtabout elongation of the bar.由于温度升高,棒料伸长。不仅这几个动词,象make等其他使役动词也可以表示因果关系。当表示原因的主语部分比较长时,汉译时往往译成一个分句。例如: Absence of tool pressure on the workpiece
