我县是老棉区,历史上多灾低产,五十年代到六十年代初,产量在五十斤水平上俳徊,低的年份三十斤左右,丰收年份也没有突破八十斤。一九六四年上《纲要》,棉花生产出现了一个飞跃,但由于我们的阶级斗争、路线斗争觉悟不高,思想政治路线不够端正,运用唯物辩证法指导棉花生产和总结经验教训不够,因此前些年棉花产量仅在一百三、四十斤水平上摆动,没有闯出新水平。
