对野生水竹资源的调查结果表明,水竹笋期低山丘为4月下旬~6月中旬,高山为5月上旬~7月上旬,整个笋期而言,4月下旬~5月上旬为出笋初期,5月上旬~6月上旬为盛期,6月下旬~7月上旬为末期,笋期长达50-60d。水竹笋品味清淡、鲜嫩、松脆、口感好,竹笋富含蛋白质和无机元素,是开发食用笋的优良种,经过技术改良,野生水竹林可改良成丰产林,通过引种可建立夏季食用笋基地。
