The 7th Pan American Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering Conference will be held in Vancouver, Canada from June 19th to 24th, 1983. The conference will be jointly organized by the Canadian Geotechnical Society, the National Institute of Canada, and the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of British Columbia. The Canadian Geotechnical Society Vancouver Local Committee is responsible for the organization of the conference. The honorary chairman of the meeting was Carl B. Crawford, Chairman of the Weaving Section Committee, was Ray P. Benson. Due to the current shortage of resources in the world, many large-scale engineering facilities need to be built during the development process. These engineering facilities are often built in areas with poor geological conditions. Therefore, geotechnical engineering will open up resources.
