清末,为促进广西边疆地区的发展,负责广西防务的郑孝胥通过创办文教机构、派遣留学、鼓励商战、关注卫生事业等多种途径启迪民智。郑孝胥之所以重视广西边疆地区民智的开发,与其边防思想有密切的联系。
In the late Qing Dynasty, in order to promote the development of the frontier areas in Guangxi, Zheng Hsiao-hsuk, who is in charge of Guangxi’s defense affairs, enlightened the people’s wisdom by establishing cultural and educational institutions, sending students abroad, encouraging businesswomen, and paying attention to public health.
