在中国美术馆以南不远处的东厂胡同,一个简朴的两居室单元房内,笔者拜访了面人汤二代传承人,年近耄耋的汤夙国先生。“面人汤”面塑技艺创始人汤子博(1882—1971),是汤夙国的父亲。汤子博之父汤禄林,京东通州人,以砖瓦雕刻为业,育有五男二女,皆为手艺人。汤子博行三,自幼心灵手巧,尤在绘画方面显现天赋,十五六岁时即可临摹各类戏曲人物。一日,他被街头一位来自山东曹县捏面人的表演所吸引,决意试一试,于是买了捏面人所用面团,用竹子削成刀片试着捏出自己心目中的人物形象。
