紧凑型玉米是山东省莱州市(掖县)玉米研究所在杂交玉米育种上的一个重大突破。紧凑型玉米叶片上举,株形收敛,单株占据空间和面积减少,用增加密度来增加叶面积系数,提高单位面积光合生产率,达到提高单位面积子实产量。1982年莱州市开始大面积推广夏播紧凑型玉米掖单2号和掖单4号,连续五年10万亩以上亩产超过500公斤。1988年莱州市玉米研究所李登海创亩产1008.88公斤的全国最高纪录。
Compact corn is a major breakthrough in the breeding of hybrid corn by Laizhou (Yexian) Corn Research Institute in Shandong Province. Compact corn leaves on the move, plant shape convergence, single plant occupies less space and area, with increased density to increase the leaf area coefficient, increase photosynthetic productivity per unit area, to improve the yield per unit area of fruit. In 1982, Laizhou launched a large-scale promotion of summer sowing compact corn Yedan No.2 and Yedan No.4, with an output of more than 500 kilograms per mu for more than 100,000 mu in five consecutive years. In 1988, Laizhou Corn Research Institute, Li Denghai, produced a record high of 1008.88 kg per mu nationwide.
